About

My name is Stefan Viragh and this is the outlet, in which I will be sharing my life for the next 8 months. By following, you will have the opportunity to listen to my thoughts and insights on every new experience, learn refugee's stories, and view a multimedia gallery. As a TEAM Leader with Soccer Without Borders, my responsibilities will range from planning enticing activities and events, to teaching soccer and life skills to the refugee youth in Uganda.

Since first touching a soccer ball at age 4, I have been preparing for a position with SWB. Playing for many soccer clubs throughout my youth, and all the way through my fours years with the Wheaton College Men’s Varsity squad, my passion for the world’s game has allowed me to be ready for this experience. Along with my playing experience, I furthered my knowledge through coaching at a youth soccer academy for numerous years, allowing myself to truly appreciate the multiple facets of world’s beautiful game. My driven passion to coach and teach today’s youth to aspire in our modernized world serves as the grounds to my own soccer pitch. Additionally, I spent the second semester of my senior year at Wheaton writing a thesis, arguing how soccer has become a global cultural phenomenon through the lens of nationalism and capitalism, including a case study on South Africa.

With all that said, my extensive background has provided me with the necessary skills I need to excel and help move this program to a larger, global arena. I am very excited to move forward and place myself onto an unfamiliar pitch, where first-hand experience will change my life, and the lives around me, forever.
